2025 Annual Wage Review

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) today (3 June) handed down its decision in the 2025 Annual Wage Review, announcing an increase to both the National Minimum Wage and minimum award wages.

From 1 July 2025, the National Minimum Wage will increase by 3.5%, lifting the weekly full-time minimum wage to $948.00, or $24.95 per hour.
All modern award minimum wages will also increase by 3.5%.

What Employers Must Do

Employers must ensure that all employees are paid at or above the new minimum wage or their applicable modern award rate from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Review over-award and salaried arrangements to determine whether the increase can be absorbed or needs to be passed on (in full or in part).
  2. Review and update employment contract templates to reflect the new minimums.
  3. Update payroll systems, including allowances, loadings, deductions and penalties.
  4. Check enterprise agreements to ensure they remain compliant with the updated minimum wage.
  5. Update budgeting and financial forecasts to reflect the increased wage costs.
